Technical Rescue Symposium
Thursday, October 8, 2026, 1:30 p.m.
The Technical Rescue Expert Forum will present current and new findings in technical rescue following traffic accidents. The tactically correct use of rescue equipment is just as important as the coordination between technical and medical rescue teams. These areas of overlap will be addressed and illustrated with practical examples.
Advances in vehicle safety play a significant role in accident prevention and also contribute important aspects to post-accident rescue operations. Accident research and its findings are now essential contributions to prevention and help in understanding how accidents occur. Evidence collection at the accident scene is of high importance in this regard.
- Modern Rescue Technology and Tactics (Weber Rescue)
- Are Our Rescue Methods Still Up to Date? (Dr. Rolf Erbe)
- Modern Vehicle Safety (Dr. Florian Weinert, Volkswagen AG)
- Optimizing Prehospital Rescue Using Insights from Accident Data (Dr. Henrik Liers, Traffic Accident Research at TU Dresden)
- Evidence collection at the accident scene (Prof. Dr. Michael Weyde, Priester & Weyde Engineering Office, Berlin)

The workshop on October 11 shared insights and experiences, enabling fire departments to respond professionally to the growing number of electric vehicles in their daily operations.
Topics:
- What do firefighters need to know about electric mobility and hazards during operations?
- Firefighting aids for the fire department – fire lance – container – fire blanket – fire-retardant bag
- Operational tactics for fires involving electric vehicles
- Fire department operational experiences
